Safelain is the first ever all natural and edible oxidation indicator or responsive expiration date. It works by changing its color once oxidation occurs and can be calibrated to match the rate of oxidation with the applied pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or food product. Safelain can be directly blended, coated, or applied to an independent vessel (packaging) while responding to levels of moisture, oxygen, temperature, and radiation. The main component in Safelain is a very powerful antioxidant, betalain, derived from beets and calibrated to change from an orange, yellow, or red starting color to a brown which indicates oxidation.
